SPRINTCAR SPEEDWAY SEASON
2009 - 2010
THANK YOU ALL Sadly for the Team, the Season of the racing has ended, the car will now be moth balled after being stripped down and the motor will be in transit back to Don Ott's USA for the engine re-build. Once it arrives back it will be going into Dean's new car ready for the new 2010 - 2011 Season, which will be Dean's 10th anniversary of racing a sprintcar. So a special season will be ahead. Team results overview for the season. Even though we had a few
DNF's, the season overall ended up the top end because of Dean's driving skill
and the crews huge effort. We all traveled to 28 meetings all over New
Zealand, made many friends, many fans, were looked after by many track
promotions, and as a team and through the endless efforts of Nicky and Dean, the
team and their families were always well looked after and entertained. We really
do have a fantastic Dean Brindle Race Team Family. THANKYOU ALL RACE FANS, PROMOTIONS, TEAM, SPONSORS. DABrindle #22a Huntly Speedway - King of Speed - 15 April 2010 Thursday night before the V8 Supercars in Hamilton, Huntly
Speedway are running their Invitation V8 King of Speed. Being a former NZ1 Dean
was along with 11 other Sprintcars invited to run the V8 speedfest. Saloons,
Super Saloons, Super V8 Stockcars, Standard Stocks and Minisprints. What a
fantastic Venue, The Huntly club as normal are so welcoming and nothing is a
problem. Officials all come to meet and welcome you, and explain the nights
program. All the current NZ Champions in each section were flown in by
helicopter and introduced to the large crowd that had assembled to witness the
very fast action that was to great them. True to V8 tradition most cars ran open
headers so the petrol head fans could here the true V8 sound. For once the
timing of the Sprintcar races allowed the crew to watch other section racing.
Fast wasn't the word for it, skill and visual was. All sections gave their all
and had their many fans on the edge of their seats. Robertson Holden Speedway & Harrisville Winged Thunder - 10 & 11 April 2010 Easter and the traditional Saturday Night Manawatu Champs and
Robertson Holden Speedway, and the Winged Thunder at the Mighty Harrisville
Speedway at Ohakia. The best weekend on the racing calendar.

2009 - 2010 season possible Baypark Speedway - 20 March $1000 Feature Win 2010 Another weekend and we are back at Baypark on the invitation from Willie Kay the promoter. some 14 cars turned up and it had the makings of a hard and fast night. Track looking good and fast, staying stable during the night giving Dean a fast pace to race at, thrilling the crowd who witnessed the might V8 winged thunder. Once again Dean managed good heat finishing to see him on the front row for the start of the feature. Leading most of the race it soon become apparent that the team were off the slick setup that was required to run the track. woods got past dean and then Entwisle came storming through doing a do or die pass taking him into the same passing technique on Woods. 5 laps to go and Wood regained the lead and kept it to win the Feature. Dean made a mighty move on Entwisle to take second on the last lap. Yes another good night and a straight car. After the meeting saw many of the race fans talking to these fast moving drivers, having photos taken with them and the car. Dont forget Easter weekend, with the Winged Thunder cars running the Robertson Holden Speedway Palmerston Sat Night and then to the Might Harrisville Speedway at Ohakia on Sunday. See you all their.

2009 - 2010 season possible Baypark Speedway - 13 March NI Champs 2010 - Kihikihi Speedway 14 March Waikato Champs 2010 Sun, what a fantastic night to run the North island Sprintcar Champs, at the best venue in the Southern hemisphere. Some 24 cars arrived to thrash out the title, hot laps, time trials, heats and the feature. The track started good, however during the course of the night and plenty of racing it began to break up and develop holes that began launching the cars all over the place. Dean's driving style gave no issues to these as such and managed to power through them getting him upfront for the all in feature. Not long and the field were passing back markers. some gave room some didn't which slowed the fast pace cars. Dean lead for awhile with the hard charging woods right on his hammer. Last couple of laps and a hole led to Woods winning and Dean second. Sadly the night was witness to a massive crash seeing Ian (Jack Jack) Easton riding the fence and being taken away in the Ambulance. The team kept checks on Ian's progress and true to his style was able to check himself out the next day. So all in all a great night and the car nice and straight. A quick sleep and off to Kihikihi for the Waikato Champs. Once again a hot day and a hard and fast oval. Hot laps, heats and a feature again was agenda. The track slickened up fast and it was all on. Dean gained a front row start for the feature and lead from start to finish. Once again winning the champs for the second consecutive year. Ryan O'Connor 2nd and Greg Pickerill 3rd. Once again another great run meeting by the team at Kihikihi Speedway. Next meeting the $1000.00 dollar feature challenge at Baypark 20 March 2010.

2009 - 2010 season possible Springs Speedway - 6 March 2010 The seasons final racing night of the Springs Speedway has
arrived and many were walking around the mighty arena wondering what they were
going to do for their continued family entertainment weekends. The night was
filled with plenty of good fast racing for all sections in the Auckland points
series, the sad departure of a racing legend of 25 years in the Sprintcar
Division, Alan (Wako) Wakelin, and the very sad accident involving a flag
official on the infield during a TQ race. We understand that things are working
for the better for him, as he has many injuries. The Dean Brindle Race Team wish
him well with a speedy recovery. The Corporate Stand was filled with some 30
Turners Auctions Management and Guests. It was great to see them at the speedway
as many hadn't been before. It was great for them to see Dean's car and hear him
explain the workings of these monster speed machines. We trust you all enjoyed
your night and the Speedway Hospitality.

2009 - 2010 season possible Springs Speedway - 27 Feb 2010 - Kihikihi Speedway 28 Feb 2010 Full weekend for the team with Saturday Night at the Springs in
Auckland and then traveling to Kihikihi Speedway for the Sprintcar Invitation.
With the Americans gone home it meant that it would be all on between the top
Springs drivers for the last two meetings to finish in the top order of the
Auckland Sprintcar Points. The Last meeting will be double points and this has
come down to either Dean or Ryan O'Conner.

2009 - 2010 season possible Springs Speedway - 6 and 21 Feb 2010 Springs speedway, 2 nights of racing packed into one for the
Auckland Champs and the Sprintcar 30 lapper. Action, carnage and an ever
changing track were the go after the rain delayed 6 Feb. The USA boys were once
again very dominant for their final nights racing in NZ before heading home to
start their new season racing campaign. Both Jonathon Allard and Ricky Logan
have become close friends with Dean and his team, and the knowledge that they
passed on allowed Dean to stay on their hammer. We wish them well for their
season in the USA.

2009 - 2010 season possible Central Motor Speedway - 5-6 Feb 2010 - NZ Sprintcar Champs - Cromwell Cromwell, way down south in the South Island. Hot, between 30 -
40 degrees and did we feel it. The beautiful lakes saw plenty of swimming
action. Phil Burgess and his team held a meet and great for all drivers and
crews who had traveled from all parts of New Zealand along with the visiting USA
drivers of J Allard and R Logan. Jason Scott #88 Sprintcar whom we owe a big
thank you too, extended his welcoming hand with jet Boat rides and a beautiful
BBQ evening spent aboard his Charter vessel "Princess" on Lake
Wakatipu. Some 30 people were shown the true spirit of hospitality aboard this
very well appointed Cat. Thank you Jason.

2009 - 2010 season possible Ruapuna Speedway - 29 and 30 JAN 2010 - Sprintcar Goody Tribute and Gold Cup - Christchurch Christchurch a weekend of hot sun and hot racing. Hot days and cold nights were the menu that would see the team rapped up not just in fast racing but big jackets to try and keep the heat in. Friday night ready for the tribute to Noel (Goody) Goodwin. Dean was in fine form taking two second places placing him on the front row with Alan (Wako) Wakelin. After 3 restarts the pace was on with Dean out in front and Wako chasing like there was no tomorrow. Hard and fast laps going down like it was the flick of your fingers. lapping back markers in and out dean increased the lead and was looking forward to the finish. Entering turn 4 a Christchurch car spun coming across Dean who had nowhere to go and the end result being Dean on the infield and Wako winning. Night 2 - Gold Cup - another night of wind and cooling down,
heat 1 was going out and all was in place for a hard and fast run, with Skinny
and Dean on the front row and ready to hit the pedal. Race under way at a very
fast pace, Skinny getting the jump and Dean closing in on him for the hard
charging pass. Yellow flag and before they knew it turn one was their and Dean
under full throttle launched over Skinny's right rear and was left with massive
air time and the car flying apart under him. Back in the pits and all was on to
try and replace everything from wings, shocks, torsion arms etc, Deans crew
along with many other teams were in spanners and all, racing to get the car back
together. The promotion ruled Dean in as the promoters choice which allowed him
to compete in the A main off the back of the field, where Dean managed to get to
8th place as the race ran green to the chequed. Dean was amazed of all the help
he received to get him back in the race and would like to personally thank the
following, The Promotion and officials of Ruapuna Speedway, Steve Duff, The Dean
Brindle Racing Team (John, Ricardo, Tony, Dave), Steve, Kevin, Ryan O'Connor,
Darryl - The Edge Speedshop, Colin Entwisle, Travis, Harry, Jamie Mac Donald,
Neil Cowley, The Jeremy Halpin Crew,

2009 - 2010 season possible Baypark Speedway - 23 JAN 2010 - Sprintcar Stampede Another fine hot summers day in the Bay of Plenty - Mount Maunganui, and the Dean brindle Race Team had been invited to run in the 21 Field Sprintcar Stampede which was also running Brad Kaeding USA. Hot was the only way to describe the furious racing spectacle the summer crowd were going to get. Dean won heat one in style on the very rough moving track. After a short stoppage to grade the track, heat 2 came out and with Dean starting grid 13 it was going to be a tall ask for him to get placed 5th or better to give him the front row in the 25 lap A main. to his credit he came through the fast charging field to gain 5th spot and grid 1 for the A Main. The car had been perfectly set up by Dean, Mark, Ray and the team. A Main time and the 4 wide salute to the fans signaled the start of what was to be a Sprintcar heart stopping, dicing 25 lap full on race. Bradley Turrell was the pace setter alongside Dean with Skinny Colson and Brad Kaeding behind, the green flag dropped and within 3 laps the dueling Brindle and Turrell were lapping the back markers. Dean found a way through the holes and managed to pull out a good lead until a yellow light came on closing the field up once again. Sadly it was the end of the night for our touring American with a wheel pick up and over he went retiring to the infield. Next few laps Dean was out in front starting to cruise a little until hard charging Rodney Wood came flying through to take the lead for a second. This woke Dean up again and it was all on with Brindle and Wood dicing for the lead 4 times in one lap. Deans placement of his car entering and exiting the corners proved to be the winning formula and taking out the 25 lapper A Main Sprintcar Stampede ahead of Rodney Woods and James Dahn to the delight of the race fans who were for the last laps all standing up watching the furious action before them. It was a great night and a great shake down for the team who are loading up and heading to the South Island on Wednesday.

2009 - 2010 season possible Springs Speedway - 16 JAN 2010 - NZ Grand Prix Auckland New Zealand - Springs Speedway - Magic night for the
promotion to run the New Zealand Grand Prix. A large field turned out with cars
from Auckland, USA, Palmerston North and Mount Maunganui. Time trials were the
first order of the night with the top six cars being within a second of each
other and Colin Entwisle from the Mount setting the fastest time in the 12.0
second mark. The heats were then run with the top four going thru to the Dash and
the remainder having to qualify through the B Main. Dean was placed 5th and
therefore missing the Dash and transferring to the B main which he won in fast
time giving him grid 13 for the feature. With Allard, Logan USA and some of the
top NZ cars ahead of him it was going to be a tall task to get upfront. However
a fast track saw Dean gain 3 spots by running the time line in the first few
laps. One yellow for a spun car and they were off again. A great tussle between
Dean and Wako saw Wako stay ahead and finish upfront. J Allard USA again proved
his skill and dominance to win ahead of fellow countryman R Logan, R Woods and
Wako the next NZ Cars home.

2009 - 2010 season possible Springs Speedway - 6 JAN 2010 Springs Speedway once again turned on a spectacular meeting for the packed stadium of fans who turned out to watch the best strutting their stuff. All sections from the quarter midgets, TQ's, Midgets and the big Sprintcar bangers raced to the very hard and dusty track conditions. Tires were balding as quick as the laps counted down. For the Dean Brindle Racing Team the night was an excellent one thanks to the fantastic driving ability of their driver and master setups by Dean's brother Ray, the crew, and some very experienced knowledge from Jonathon Allard USA. The heats saw a 4th and 3rd finish, and as the feature neared Dean being in the top six drew his number two marble to give him grid 2 and the pace car place with J Allard grid 1. As the green flag fell Dean powered away from Allard, Logan and O'Connor. 20 laps were under way and Dean lead 16 of them, only to have his tires start to go off and Allard managed a clean pass to take 1st, with Dean 2nd, O'Connor 3rd and Ricky Logan USA 4th. The team and fans alike were estatic at the hard and fast racing that was before them. To Jonathon and his team, what a fantastic and helpful clan of people and great ambassadors to the sport of speedway. As Dean is going to America in August, Jonathon Allard, Sammy Swindell and Ricky Logan are all wanting him to catch up with them, which will be a huge learning edge for him and his racing career. The next meeting is the NZ Sprintcar Grand Prix at the Springs on the 16 January, so we will see you all their.

Joey Saldana, Craig Dollanski, Sammy Swindell, Ricky Logan and Jonathon Allard. Joey and Craig here for the Boxing night meeting then leave and Sammy arrives. It is so great to see these guys again and for Dean and the NZ team to be able to pace and race with the fulltime Pro's. The rounds are in Auckland, Palmerston North and Wellington. As usual the weather will play a big factor as will the SNZ officials. 30 November 2009 at the Springs, The DBR team are
all set for the onslaught. Heat 2 - 5th, B Main 1st, A Main DNF - Flat
Tyre. 26 December 2009 at the Springs, Ready to do battle. everything was all go. Heats 2 and 4 resulted in a 7th and 2nd finish. Into to the full field feature, ending with a 5th place finish. Results 1st J Allard, 2nd S Swindell, 3rd R O'Connor, 4th A Wakelin, 5th D Brindle, 6th G Pickerill 30 December 2009 at the Springs. What looked like a good track after all the heavy rain soon turned into a rough track, ending the hopes of some six cars left on the infield with flat tyres. There was good hard fast racing in the heats, especially watching Dean and Jonathon Allard doing some exciting passing manuovers especially with each other, swapping the lead a few times with Dean winning, heat 3 - 5th and 3rd in the Feature behind J Allard 1st and R O'Connor 2nd. Dean ran the last third of the race with no brakes after the right rear brake bracket broke. 1 January 2010 at the mighty Robertson Holden
Speedway - Palmerston North. We all trooped on down to Palmy to race in what
would be a speed-fest night which had the large crowd on the feet much of the
time. The format was slightly different to the Springs whereby they ran Time
trials, Pole shoot out, C, B, and A Main. 2 January 2010 and Wellington was to be the go, with all cars running open headers (yes No Mufflers). Sadly the weather did not let up and the meeting was cancelled. Ian Taylor, Puck and Bruce Robertson did the very best to try and run the event, however mother nature will not be argued with. The next meeting is this Wednesday Night the 6 January so we will see you all their.

Year to all my Sponsors, loyal Fans both in new Zealand and around the World, My
fantastic Crew and their families, My Supporters in America and Australia. SPRINGS SPEEDWAY - 28 November 2009 Thunder Down under and the first round of the International
Sprintcar USA vs NZ. The programmed consisted of qualifying, heat races and then
the feature. Some 28 sprintcars arrived to do battle with Joey Saldana, Craig
Dollanski and the ever fast Jonathon Allard. Saturday wasn't looking the best
weather wise and it was going to end in rain delaying the final part of the
meeting to Sunday. Qualifying was held and the margins between the top 20 cars
were 100th of a second. Dean qualified an unbelievable 14th after looking very
fast. His heat race saw him finish 5th which meant that he had to run the B Main
and where he finished decided his grid for the Feature race. Then the rain came
down which saw the end of the racing for the night with six races completed.

2009 - 2010 season possible SPRINGS SPEEDWAY - 14 OCTOBER 2009 Saturday Night Thunder was just that at the Springs in Auckland. Fast and Furious. The Dean Brindle Racing team had a good but disastrous night. First race finishing 3rd from mid pack. Second heat making his way to the front and in a cloud of smoke pulled off with a blown Power Steering Hose. Few as we all thought the worst. Thanks to Team Salter we were able to get the car ready for the feature. Starting from the rear of the field, we all knew it would be a big ask with the thunderous fast cars ahead. However Dean did the team proud weaving his way through the field getting upto 4th place with one lap to go. Glen Torpey in front of Dean made his car as wide as possible, leading to Dean clipping his left rear wheel and spinning. Congrats Jamie McDonald, Ryan OConnor and Glen, taking out the feature. The Next meeting is the first of the International meetings on the 28th November 2009 at the Springs. See you there
